Amitrid

 

Contents

Per tab Amiloride HCI 5 mg, hydrochlorothiazide 50 mg.

Per mite tab Amiloride HCI 2.5 mg, hydrochlorothiazide 25mg.

 

Indications

Hypertension, cardiac edema, hepatic cirrhosis with ascites & edema.

 

Dosage

Hypertension

1-2 tab daily.

 

Cardiac edema

Initially 1 tab daily, max : 4 tab daily

 

Contraindications

Hyperkalemia, anuria, acute renal failure, severe progressive renal disease; diabetic nephropathy.

 

Special Precautions

Impaired renal or hepatic function; pregnancy, lactation, elderly, Debilitated Systemic Lupus Erythematosus; diabetes mellitus. Monitor fluid & electrolytes.

 

Adverse Reactions

Metabolic disturbances; electrolyte imbalance; anorexia; gastrointestinal effects; paresthesia, thirst, dizziness, postural hypotension; skin rash, pruritus; weakness, muscle cramps; minor psychiatric or visual changes; increased blood urea nitrogen concentration.

Rarely

Cholestatic jaundice, pancreatitis, blood dyscrasias.

 

Drug interactions

May enhance toxicity of digitalis glycosides, neuromuscular action of competitive muscle relaxants, effects of antihypertensives. Increased risk of postural hypotension with alcohol, barbiturates, opioids. Pot-depleting effect enhanced by corticosteroids, adrenocortical trophic hormone, carbenoxolone. Effect antagonised by NSAID.
