Dopamine HCL DBL

 

Contents:

Dopamine hydrochloride

 

Indications:

Correction of haemodynamic imbalances present in shock due to myocardial infarction, trauma, septicaemia, renal failure, chronic cardiac decompensation.

 

Contraindications:

Pheochromocytoma, atrial or ventricular tachyarrhythmias.

 

Special Precautions:

Do not dilute with alkaline solution. Avoid concurrent use of cyclopropane or halogenated hydrocarbon anesthetic. Hyperthyroidism; Cardiovascular disease, aneurysms; angina pectoris; diabetes mellitus; closed-angle glaucoma; asthma.

 

Adverse reactions:

Anxiety, fear, restlessness, tremor, insomnia, confusion, irritability, weakness, psychotic states, reduced appetite, GI upsets, anginal pain, palpitations, cardiac arrest, hypotension, dizziness, flushing, difficulty in micturition; dysponea, sweating; headache. Occasionally, bradycardia, aberrant conduction, piloerection, raised blood urea nitrogen.

 

Drug interactions:

May increase risk of arrhythmias with cardiac glycosides, quinidine, tricyclic antidepressants. Effect may be potentiated by MAO inhibitors. May reverse effect of antihypertensives.
