Contents:

Piroxicam

 

Dosage:

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA), osteoarthritis & ankylosing spondylitis Oral 20 mg as single daily dose. Injection 20 mg intra-mascular (IM)once daily.

 

Acute musculoskeletal disorders Oral 40 mg daily for 1st 2 days then 20 mg as single dose for 7-14 days. Injection 40 mg IM once daily for 1st days in a single or 2 divided doses, less severe cases 20 mg IM once daily.

 

Primary dysmenorrhoea 40 mg single daily dose for 1st 2 days, thereafter 20 mg as single dose for 1-3 days.

 

Postoperative & postraumatic pain 20 mg as a single daily dose.

 

Upper respiratory tract inflammation 40 mg once daily for the 1st 2 days followed by 10 or 20 mg daily for 3-5 days.

 

Contraindications:

Active peptic ulceration. Hypersensitivity to aspirin & NSAIDs.

 

Special Precautions:

Upper gastrointestinal (GI) disease. Compromised cardiac function. Hypertension. Liver cirrhosis, nephrotic syndrome & overt renal disease.

 

Adverse Reactions:

GI symptoms. Ankle edema (occasional). Central nervous system (CNS) effects (rare). Swollen eyes, blurred vision & eye irritations. Malaise & tinnitus. Skin rash & pruritus. Anemia.

Rarely Severe hepatic reaction.

 

Drug interactions:

Interferes with natriuretic action of diuretic agents.

Dispersible tab 10 mg x 56's. 20 mg x 28's.

Cap 10 mg x 200's. 20 mg x 200's
