Inderal/Inderal LA/Inderal LA-80
Contents:
Propranolol hydrochloride
Dosage:
Tab
Adult
Hypertension : 80 mg three
times daily, increase according to response.
Angina, anxiety, Migraine &
essential tremor : 40 mg two-three times daily, increase according to
response.
Dysrhythmias, anxiety,
tachycardia, hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy & thyrotoxicosis 10-40
mg : 10-40 mg three-four times daily.
LA/LA-80
Hypertension, essential
tremor, anxiety, thyrotoxicosis. Prophylaxis of angina pectoris & migraine.
Prophylaxis after acute myocardial infarction : Once daily.
Contraindications:
2nd or 3rd degree heart block,
cardiogenic shock, history of bronchospasm, prolonged fasting, metabolic
acidosis..
Special Precautions:
Poor cardiac reserve, overt heart
failure, diabetes; anaesthetic; withdrawal should be gradual in patients
with ischemic heart disease. Withdrawal of clonidine. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions:
Cold extremities,
gastrointestinal & sleep
disturbances, muscle fatigue, lassitude. Rarely, bradycardia, paresthesia,
thrombocytopenia, purpura, skin rash, central nervous system (CNS) symptoms including hallucinations.
Drug interactions:
Increased risk of myocardial
depression with verapamil, diltiazem & Class I antiarrhythmics, parenteral
adrenaline. May reduce requirement for hypoglycemic therapy.
