Dear Patient,
Please read the following instructions for use carefully, because they provide important details to be adhered to during the use of this medicine. If you should have any questions, please consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Instructions for use
LegalonŽ140 Capsules
Active ingredient: Milk thistle fruit extract

Composition
1 capsule contains: 173.0 - 186.7 mg of dry extract from the fruits of silybum marianum (36 - 44 : 1) equivalent to 75-80.9% of silymarin, calculated as silibinin (extractant: ethyl acetate > 96.7%)


Other ingredients: mannitol, sodium carboxymethyl starch, polysorbate 80, polyvidone, magnesium stearate, gelatine, titanium dioxide E 171, ferric oxides E 172, dodecyl sodium sulphate.


Original packs of 30 [N1], 60 [N2] and 100 [N3] brown, hard gelatin capsules

Contraindications
When must you not take LegalonŽ140 Capsules?
No restrictions.


What must be borne in mind for children?
There have been no adequate investigations of the use of this medicine in children. It should, therefore, not be used in children under 12 years of age.


What must you remember during pregnancy and lactation?
No experience is available with regard to the use of LegalonŽ 140 during pregnancy and lactation. Therefore, it should only be used after consultation with a doctor.

Dosage guidance, mode and duration of use

The following instructions apply unless your doctor has given other directions when prescribing LegalonŽ140. Please adhere to the directions for use, because otherwise LegalonŽ 140 cannot act properly.


How much LegalonŽ 140 and how often should you take it?
Treatment should be commenced with 1 capsule 3 times daily (milk thistle fruit extract equivalent to 420 mg of silymarin).


As a maintenance dose, 1 capsule 2 times daily (milk thistle fruit extract equivalent to 280 mg of silymarin) is sufficient.


If the complaints persist for a longer period, you should consult your doctor.


How and when should you take LegalonŽ140?
The capsules should be taken whole with some liquid before meals.


For how long should you take LegalonŽ140?
Your doctor will decide how long treatment should be continued.

 

Incorrect use and overdosage
What should be done if LegalonŽ 140 has been inadvertently taken in unduly large amounts?
In the event of an overdose, the described side effects may occur to a greater extent. In this case you should ask your doctor for symptomatic measures.

Side effects
What side effects may occur while taking LegalonŽ140?
A mild laxative effect has occasionally been observed. Please inform your doctor or pharmacist about any side effects which you might observe and which are not mentioned in this package insert.

Notes and data on the storage life of this medicine
The shelf life of this product is 3 years. The expiry date of this pack is printed on the folding carton and on the blister. Do not use this pack after that date.
