Madopar

 

Contents:

Madopar '125' L-dopa 100 mg, benserazide 25 mg.

Madopar '250' I-Dopa 200 mg, benserazide 50 mg

Madopar HBS L-dopa 100 mg, benserazide 25 mg

 

Indications:

Parkinson's disease & syndrome, except drug-induced Parkinson syndrome.

Madopar HBS Patients with fluctuations in response. For better control of nocturnal symptoms.

 

Dosage:

Initial: 1 cap Madopar '125' three times daily, increasing weekly until optimal therap dose.

HBS cap Individual titration.

Nocturnal disability Up to 3 cap at bedtime.

 

Contraindications:

Severely decompensated endocrine, renal, hepatic & cardiac disorders. Psychoses & severe psychoneuroses. Patients < 25 year. Pregnancy. Combination with MAOIs ( except Selegiline ).

 

Special Precautions:

Glaucoma. History of myocardial infarction (MI), coronary insufficiency, cardiac arrhythmia; peptic ulcer & osteomalacia. Discontinue 1-2 days before surgery requiring general anesthetic.

 

Adverse Reactions:

Anorexia, gastrointestinal (GI) upsets ( mild ); cardiac arrhythmias & orthostatic hypotension. Abnormal involuntary movements. Mild, transient leukopenia & thrombocytopenia ( rare ).

 

Drug interactions:

Potentiates effects of sympathomimetics. Neuroleptics, vitamin B6.

 

Presentation/Packing

Cap 125 mg x 100's, 1000's.

Cap/Tab 250 mg x 100's, 1000's.

HBS cap 125 mg x 100's.
