Neo Deca
DESCRIPTION
NEO DECA is a
sterile buffered eye/ear drop preparation containing Neomycin and
Dexamethasone.
PROPERTIES
Neomycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic which is active against many
gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria and mycobacteria.
Dexamethasone is a synthetic glucocorticoid which has good anti-inflammatory
properties. In combination it can act as an antimicrobial and
anti-inflammatory agent.
INDICATIONS
Acute steroid responsive inflammatory and allergic conditions with
accompanying bacterial infections.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Hypersensitivity to Neomycin.
PRECAUTIONS
Prolonged use may result in posterior subcapsular cataract formation and
glaucoma with raised opticocular pressure. Perforation has been known to
occur in patients with disease causing tinning of the cornea. Extensive use
may lead to systemic effects.
FORMULA
Dexamethasone-21 Phosphate .............. 0.1%
neomycin Sulphate ................................ 0.5%
Preservative : Benzalkonium Chloride .... 0.01%
DOSAGE
Initially 3 - 4 drops every 4 hours then subsequently at longer intervals.
STORAGE CONDITIONS
Store in a dry place below 25°C.
Protect from light.
Keep out of reach of children.
