Contents:

Flecainide acetate.

 

Indications:

Tab

AV nodal reciprocating tachycardia, Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome & similar conditions with accessory pathway & anterograde or retrograde conduction. Symptoms sustained ventricular tachycardia. Premature ventricular contractions &/or non-sustained ventricular tachycardia where these are resistant to other therapy or when other treatment has not been tolerated. Maintenance of normal rhythm following conversation by other means.

Injection

Ventricular tachycardia resistant to other treatment. AV nodal reciprocating tachycardia, Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome & similar conditions with accessory pathway & anterograde or retrograde conduction.

 

Dosage:

Tab 1 tab twice daily. Max: 2 twice daily.

 

Contraindications:

Cardiac failure, history of MI, sinus nodal dysfunction, atrial conduction defects, 2nd degree or greater AV block, bundle branch block or distal block degree unless pacing rescue is available.

 

Special precautions:

Electrolyte disturbances, hepatic impairment, patients with permanent pacemakers or temporary pacing electrodes; predisposition to cardiac failure.

 

Adverse Reactions:

Giddiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, visual disturbances, nausea & vomiting. Proarrhythmia may occur in patients with structural heart disease &/or significant left ventricular impairment.

 

Drug indications:

Can cause rise in plasma digoxin. Possible additive negative inotropic effects of β-blockers & other cardiac depressants. Enzyme inducers enhance elimination.

 

Presentation/Packing:

Tab 100 mg x 100's.

Ampoules 10 mg/mL x 15mL x 5's.
