ALABASTER, CALCIUM SULPHATE DIHYDRATE
Chinese physicians give powdered
crystals internally to treat fevers and coughs, and externally for eczema,
burns and sores. Homeopaths use it for sinusitis.
Glassy or translucent, crystals of Gypsum are found worldwide,
occurring mostly as a result of evaporating seas and salt lakes. Burnt Gypsum, ground into a white powder,
is used to make plaster of Paris for casts to hold broken bones in place, in cement for building, and as a fertilizer.
Anti-inflammatory; helps reduce fever.
Prescribed internally by Chinese physicians for fevers and accompanying symptoms such as headaches,
and also for coughs due to asthma and bronchitis, and externally for eczema, burns and sores. Homeopathically, as Calcarea sulphurea,
it is used for infections such as sinusitis with a yellow discharge.
Powder, homeopathic remedies.
