ROCK SALT, SODIUM CHLORIDE
Rock salt is used homeopathically
for sneezing, colds, eczema, hives, thrush, menstrual problems, and
migraine. In Ayurvedic medicine it is given for digestive problems.
In orthodox medicine, a high intake of salt is thought to increase the risk of high blood
pressure, strokes, and heart disease. Homeopathically, however, sodium chloride
is used for conditions ranging from colds to eczema. Both sodium and chloride are
essential trace elements, but supplements are likely to be needed only after exceptional
dehydration. Indeed, excess is more likely than deficiency, due to the large amount of
salt added to common foods.
