Oleum jacoris aselli
COD LIVER OIL
Cod liver oil is now being
validated in medical trials as a treatment for eczema and arthritis, for
which it has long been used traditionally.
Fish liver was recognized as an aid to good health long before
it was identified as the richest food source of vitamins A and D,
which are needed for the body's defence system and for the absorption of calcium to build healthy bones and teeth.
In the north, where less vitamin D is provided by the action of sunlight on the skin,
cod and halibut liver oil have been given routinely to guard against deficiency.
Recently, other health properties of the oil have been found, such as its anti-inflammatory action.
