The sassafras tree grows
abundantly throughout the south-eastern United States and is much used by
Native American and country folk there. The bark is deliciously aromatic and
flavours the famous root beer beloved by southerners. A spring tonic tea was
traditionally brewed to cleanse the blood and system generally.
Sassafras is most commonly used
to treat arthritis, rheumatism and skin complaints as well as colds and flu,
where its blood purifying and damp-removing actions give the benefit. |
