This very common Indian aromatic
of striking yellow color is in fact a medicine with remarkable powers, so
keep your kitchen supply of good quality. Turmeric kills bacteria,
counteracts toxins in the blood, cleanses and improves liver function. Apply
turmeric paste or a poultice externally to wounds, stings, and skin
infections or boils, mixed with a little slippery elm. Take it internally as
part of a blood purifying blend, with red clover, chaparral, and/or
echinacea for skin problems such as acne.
In India it is sued not only in
curry blends but also to treat even severe blood toxicity and stagnation
such as gangrene. Current research shows it has anti-tumor properties.
Turmeric can be used regularly in cooking as a purifying carminative which
will aid complete digestion and assimilation, and maintain good health as
well as making dishes visually attractive. |
